SS-31 (elamipretide, MTP-131) is a mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide that binds selectively to cardiolipin on the inner mitochondrial membrane. Cardiolipin binding stabilises electron-transport-chain supercomplexes and reduces mitochondrial ROS leakage.
